Camping with little ones can be so much fun. It’s great to watch them explore the outdoors while they laugh and play in the sunshine. They will get hungry faster as they burn energy romping about so having snacks on hand that they enjoy and that you approve of will be an advantage.
There is no need to go crazy and find difficult recipes for this task. In fact, for our first snack, you just need three ingredients. More than likely you already have celery, raisins, and peanut butter in the kitchen, right? Well, we are going to create that old standby, Ants On A Log. Considering we are in the woods on a camping trip, it is the perfect snack!
Of course, you can not go on a camping trip without having some delicious trail mix on hand. However, we want to make it ourselves so we know what is going in and keep it healthy. By all means, you can go as wild with this one as you like. However, it is easiest to keep it simple and add in cereal, oats, nuts, even a little bit of chocolate.
We all know that kids love any type of food that is stuffed. Why not core an apple and stuff it with peanut butter? Kids will love the surprise of peanut butter. And once again you can even add a little chocolate to sweeten the deal for them.
These three simple treats will take your camping from blah to TASTY! We hope you and your young family have the time of your lives while you are camping with us and we look forward to meeting you.
The campground is a wonderful place to hold your family reunion. You can bring all generations together and they can all be different kinds of campers. Some may want to camp in tents and others in a cabin. You may have RVers in your group with grown children and grandchildren who will be flying in from a far away state and there isn’t room for them in the rig. Everyone can be accommodated in a campground.
It’s best if you can decide your dates and assign one person to be the group contact. That person can work with the campground personnel by providing a list of name and types of campsites needed. We will make sure you are all as close to each other as possible. [Read more…]

There are many fun things to do when camping with kids. Kids are great at card games and cribbage is a fun card game that also helps kids with their math skills.
The dealer will deal each person six cards from a deck of 52 and set two of those cards face down in front of them. The other player must also put two cards from their hand face down in front of the dealer.
This is a time to get rid of crummy cards if it’s not your crib and most kids learn this really quickly. If you’re the dealer and have a great hand sliding good cards into your crib is a great strategy as well.
The game progresses with each player striving to lay down 15 points at a time to move along the board. The winner of the game will be the first player to reach 121 points.
However, beware, if a player doesn’t make it half-way through the board before another player reaches 121 points, that player is “skunked”.
Being skunked is a huge deal to the players in cribbage and the player who wins the game is likely to gloat a bit over the fact that they skunked their younger sibling or parent.
This is a great game and loads of fun. Everyone can work on their math skills and younger players can easily team up with other players to learn strategies and how the game is played.
It only takes a few minutes to learn and a lifetime to master. Cribbage boards are fairly inexpensive and available anywhere that games are sold.
Cribbage is an ideal game to take camping and if it’s raining outside, it’s easy to play cribbage in the tent and still have a great time.
